On May 15th, 2013, Lloyd Fournier, founder of Thunderbird Rising, received a Humanitarian Award from the City of Brampton. This is an extraordinary tribute for his work so far, and an important step in the recognition of the pervasive lack of basic resources and education that children living on Reserves across Canada face.
On receiving the award, Lloyd's response was surprising, “ It is always nice to be recognized and I thank you...miigwetch. And I congratulate the Mayor and City government for being the first time any level of government has recognized the problem. You see, by recognizing my achievement you are also recognizing the problem.”
Congratulation to Lloyd Fournier, and to everyone who has put their time, effort and care into this great cause. This award is a small tribute to your generous contribution of time and goods.
